Its pretty common knowledge that turbine blades work better with larger volumes of air moving more slowly.
Why not add a venturi after the combustor section to transform the flow from high pressure/high velocity to a mid pressure, mid velocity? And of course, a larger hot section turbine to make use of this change in flow.
This would also allow the use of lower temperature materials and allow a lower RPM hot section.
