Hi everyone!
I'm interested in building a V-Max aircraft from Team Mini-max. I'm in the process of reading lots and asking lots of questions at the moment.
I've been reading a bunch about wood types for building aircraft. How wise is it to build an aircraft like this from very carefully selected non-certified wood?
A few places online alluded to the fact that perhaps Mini-max kits used to use Northern White Pine? It appears that could be potentially a reasonable replacement for Sitka Spruce if one was careful.
I'm thinking of powering it with a full VW from Great Plains Aircraft. Any thoughts on which size I should select? Direct drive vs reduction drive? I'm interested in achieving the fastest safe cruise speed, but I don't want to stick something too powerful in it.
Thanks!
