Hey guys,
I was talking with a friend of mine who works for Boing, and he said that commercially made aircraft are never welded... Is this true? I know that welding, especially with aluminum, causes the material around the weld to become weaker, but is this bad enough to avoid welding all together?

I'm designing an ultralight, and I was planning on welding components of the engine mount, landing gear, and bracing wire anchors.

Am I gonna kill myself? :nervous:

Thanks guys,

--Joe
