Is turbulence analogous to drag? From what I understand, the spanwise migration toward the tips of the flow on the underside of the wing tends to increase the intensity of the vortices in the vortex sheet and a shorter wing has a stronger tendency for this spanwise flow - vorticity strength per unit of span length (Did I say that right? Or is it per unit of area?) - than a higher aspect wing. If this is true, then a low aspect wing would create more drag per unit of lift and therefore a lower lift/drag ratio? But not necessarily less lift, just more drag?
