I have noticed a few high speed aircraft, fast jets in particular, have a sawtooth leading edge. where the root of a second wing section is longer than the tip of the first one.
I know they must have a good reason for it, but I've not been able to discover it yet, and I was wondering if anyone here could elaborate?
