I was looking at wing tips on old planes. I noticed on some planes the wing tip tapers up to the end on the bottom and the top is almost flush with the top of the rest of the wing. Is there any benefit from this type of wing tip comparing to a tapering to the middle or even a square tipped wing? Before looking at one i would have thought the tip would tapering on the top and bottom to meet about in the middle. I like the classic round wing tip look.
