Heard this morning that Richard Bach was seriously injured in a crash of his Searay amphibian; he apparently clipped a power line while landing:

Author Richard Bach injured in Wash. plane crash

His later writings got pretty New Age weird, but few pilots can fail to identify with his earlier stuff like Stranger to the Ground, Biplane, Nothing by Chance, and A Gift of Wings.

Hopefully he will make a full recovery.
