Anyone have suggestions for the best action to take in reporting a plane in an obvious downed condition ( in the trees at very remote area)

Naturally the best outcome is it's an old crash and everyone survived, it was recorded with the FAA and case closed, or is it possible to become a suspect with the law or a drug cartel if the plane was involved in an illegal crime.

Just curious if anyone knows the best steps to take. :) or has dealt with this before.
