I was wondering if less expensive spark plugs can be used in O-200 & O-300 engines?
Autolite 2223 and Champion XMD15 spark plugs look just like the shielded aviation plugs. 18mm diameter and 1/2" reach. They take the 5/8-24 shield nuts. They are used in the air cooled military GPU engines like the 4AO84.
The plug has an automotive looking ground wire, over the end of the electrode (like plugs I've seen for Franklin engines).
I noticed Autolite 2223 plugs for sale on Amazon.com for $5.13 ea, free postage over $25 order.
Has anyone run these? With new Champions running $27 ea, $5.13 is looking pretty good.
A-65, C-75, C-85, C-90, O-235, O-290, O-320, O-360 all take an 18mm x 1/2" plug.
