Gentlemen,
I have almost finished my plug, and am now turning my thoughts to making the molds and to the infusion process.
The plug has been sanded down to 1200 grit, and looks like a mirror.
Question 1:
Do I need to buff the plug, or is 1200 grit good enough? If I use PVA (see next qurestion) what's the point of going any further? PVA doesn't give a particularly great finish anyway...
There are some minor blemishes, but it would take a well trained eye to spot them. I've tried "fixing" them, but I can't get them much better than they are now. I have my vac pump, resin trap, vac bag, spiral tube etc all set up. Works great, and my test pieces were pretty much spot on.
Question 2:
Would you recommend wax on/wax off (half a dozen times), or PVA. Or both?
Question 3:
What would you recommend for the molds? I have a 25 litre drum of infusion VE, but I will need something cheaper and less runny for the molds.
Question 4:
What layup process would you recommend for the molds? I was thinking:
Regards,
Duncan

What layup process would you recommend for the molds? I was thinking:
- Gellcoat
- 1x layer BID
- 2 or 3 layers chop strand mat
- Layer of coremat
- Final layer or two of chop strand
