In my research for my inspired ultralight design of the Curtiss-Stinson Special I found that having a swept upper wing on a biplane spaced one chord vertically increases lift and reduces drag.

I'm already deviating from the original by eliminating the flying wires and using struts. How important is it that I maintain authenticity of the plank wings, vs a swept top wing, like the Pitts Special?
