Just got my Dec kitplanes with the annual directory of 313 designs. Of the 313 planes, I counted about 70 are pushers. Of the pushers, only two were low wing pushers (BD-5 and the Cumulus motorglider).

Of course the Lake amphibian is a low wing pusher.

Why not more low wing pushers?
I think putting the wing below the prop would have some advantages:
1) shield the prop from rocks.
2) less wing/prop interference loads.
3) with the prop above the wing, perhaps some "upper surface blowing" would delay stall somewhat.

I would be interested in any comments from pilots that have flown Lakes or other high thrust designs such as the gliders with retractable engines.
