I am concern about inserting a long (bit over 3') spar tang into a wooden box spar (doubles as spar for wing stub). I am planning on using overlapping tangs so only one pin is needed. The tangs will have to be pretty robust and I'm thinking of using wood covered with fiberglass with metal rings in the tangs and box that the pin goes through. For the spar box wraps of uni in the centre and at the ends to withstand the prying from the tang. I will try to determine a free body diagrams/loads and design the wing fittings in a semi-intelligent manner but any help would be welcome as what I have written here is pretty well the extent of my knowledge.
