So according to the FARs, required equipment for IFR included a number of gyroscopic instruments (rate of turn, artificial horizon, direction). Is gyroscopic set in stone, or can the electronic versions of these instruments be used? I imagine that the answer is a gyroscopic version must be on board and operational, but I'm curious.
