My goal in life is to build a Rutan aircraft before I die. However, I believe that I will start a little smaller and build a composite electric car first. I'm currently trying to design an Aptera clone since they won't sell me one.

I've read a lot of threads on Last-a-foam, Airex, Divinycell, styrofoam, etc. However, a lot of the arguments are based on fuel resistance, and vibrational resistance that really don't apply to a car.

What core foam would you suggest for the best mix of price and performance in an application that is not quite as life critical as an aircraft?
