Well, we have a new startup at GSO (PTI) airport. BOOM Supersonic is new company.

DENVER, January 26, 2022 -- Boom Supersonic, the company building the world's fastest and most sustainable supersonic airliner, today announced it has selected the Piedmont Triad International Airport in Greensboro, North Carolina as the site of its first full-scale manufacturing facility.

The Overture Superfactory will be a state-of-the-art manufacturing facility, including the final assembly line, test facility, and customer delivery center for the Overture supersonic airliner. Carrying 65 to 88 passengers, Overture is capable of flying on 100% sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) at twice the speed of today's fastest passenger jets.

“Selecting the site for Overture manufacturing is a significant step forward in bringing sustainable supersonic air travel to passengers and airlines,” said Blake Scholl, founder and CEO of Boom Supersonic. “With some of the country’s best and brightest aviation talent, key suppliers, and the state of North Carolina’s continued support, Boom is confident that Greensboro will emerge as the world’s supersonic manufacturing hub.”

Wonder how long it will be before some one starts off a head line saying something like "BOOM goes Bust!" Oh, and it is supposed to run on Peanut Oil! (SAF)

Boom claims the Overture will be a “green” jet. The Concorde was notorious for guzzling fuel. The Overture is designed to run on 100% sustainable aviation fuels — SAF — and will be net-zero carbon, the company says. SAF are not traditional petroleum byproducts. Instead, they are produced from biological waste oils, agricultural residues and non-fossil sources.

I have volunteered my Hawk to be their first testbed platform. Temporarily renamed "the Millennium Falcon," it will be interesting to see how fast progress is made (pun intended). Now, off to install a Mach meter into the panel!
