Openers Blackfly "Ultralight" shown at Oshkosh is apparently going on sale soon. (weeks?)

Seems more like a giant drone than a plane, and CBS news report this weekend is convinced it is a flying car.

I don't know how much flight experience the reporter really has (said none) but they turned him loose with the craft - and let the electronics take care of the flight.

Their website says 343lbs empty. 89 pounds overweight.
Part 103 says 24lbs for chute, 30lbs amphibious body, and 10lbs per outrigger
Seems they must be calling the 4 stubby wings individual outriggers. Buys them 94 lbs.
Opener

Price seems a little fluid - Web says cost of a SUV, TV report says closer to $200K

Hmmm.... over 40 miles (64 km) range with only 12 kWh battery? With 200 lb pilot and with 20% safety reserve remaining in battery?
It is (logically) including 1x vertical takeoff and 1x vertical landing....
Impressive... if is result of real flight tests.

An open source Blackfly-ish machine we could build in our garages would be awesome. Technologically, I picture it being built like a truncated Quickie and powered/controlled with largely off the shelf multi rotor drone parts.

I bet all those big motors are expensive......they are not "off the shelf drone motors" I would guess.
