Hi Everyone,
I have been looking into switching to automotive plugs in my o-200. Most implementation require that you replace the entire plug wire fromt he mag up to the plug. Is there any reason one could not simply attach the appropriate end to the existing plug wire from the slick mag to attach to the automotive plug? Why does the connection in the mag need to be replaced as well? I have found plugs that appear to be a drop in (Autolite 386) for the existing (REM40E) plugs. Thus a simple change at the end of the plug wires would make the conversion very easy and cost effective.
I wonder if there are some kind of odd-ball impedence matching issues or something going on here, or is this one of those "it's always beend one that way" kind of things.
Thanks in advance for the input.
