I see many airplanes with relatively bright, shiny colors on instrument panel. Wondering if this is such a good idea or not. Wouldn't that be very hard on your eyes? There must be a reason why they choose black plastic for all instruments and not bright orange!

What is preferable color and finish for your instruments? Dark gray? Light gray? For sure flat finish.
I heard somewhere that industrial gray color is most gentle for your eyes. Not sure if it's true or not.
