Hello All,
I need some advice on the use of work hardened aluminum sheet for aircraft skins.
In my location it is virtually impossible to buy precipitation hardened sheet - i.e. 6061 T6. I can however source work hardened sheet with only slightly lower yield strengths.
I am looking at alloys such as 5251 H36 and 5052 H36 which have Ultimate strengths of around 250 MPa and Yield strengths of 200-200 MPa.
Asides from the problem of welding work-hardened alloy, are there any other issues that may arise?
Thanks
Icarus
