ESQUAL - Aerocomp AB VM-1 Esqual
I found this small 2 seater. Is it aerobatic ?
I haven't seen load ratings of the Esqual, but if you're interested in the Esqual you should also look at the derivative US-made kit plane, the Arion Lightning. Arion's web site says that the Lightning airframe is rated to +5 and -3 gs - enough for the Utility category and limited aerobatics, but not the +6/-3 Gs needed for full aerobatics. The original Lightning is now called the EXP, with an LSA class version called the LS-1. One big attaction is the Jabiru 3300 six-cylinder 120HP powerplant. the EXP brochure say that version has been tested to an ultimate load of 9 Gs.Cheers, Dan
I did this write-up on the Arion Lightning EAB after visiting a Builder here in Denver. Really liked it but it was a tad too small for me with too limited a UL. I just bought plans for a Vision and I am thinking of loading it with either a Jab3300 or an O-320. If you are not overse to building from plans, check it out.
I have to admit, I like the vision also. The bad part is,, now they are only a few miles from my house but I already have a project.
Esqual is very economical....3,2 l /100 km / passenger.
