Hi there,
I'm new here and thought I would post something I have just found that may be relevant for electric Aircraft.
PROPULSION SYSTEM | UMS AERO GROUP
Yes I know, it looks like a RC tuboprop on steroids. However, if the weight is low enough, it could be worth the penalty for it's high sfc.
I realize what some will say about the safety for a manned vehicle, reliability and fuel consumption, but perhaps it could be considered as the following;
1) Range extender
2) Enhance TO burst power
3) Emergency landing power
BTW I tried in vain to contact this company without response.
I have been looking for a small gas turbine (other than RC turboprops) that would fit the size/weight/reliability requirements for an e-aircraft.
The only commercially available unit I have seen is the Jakadofsky JetVolt® Turbogenerator.
Jakadofsky Jet Engines Modellbau Triebwerke, Gasturbinen, Hubschrauber Wellenleistungsturbinen
Yep still an RC turboprop. :ermm: .... very expensive.
