Swiss BAZL and German LBA Publish Safety Message on Problems with Carb Rotax Engines

Hello All,

a heads up from Switzerland and Germany. Both the BAZL and LBA are currently investigating why Rotax engines with carbs are generating a concerning number of reported issues. The majority of those reports appear to be of reduced power and vibration during the take-off phase. Those issues are neither reproducable nor has the exact cause been identified. A video of such a case is in the LBA message.

Aquila, as a manufacturer of a certified Rotax powered aircraft, had already published a SIB for a new exhaust design addressing this issue earlier this year.
