Well, one at the moment, but I'm sure there will be more later. I've started designing my plane again, this time going for something easier and less tolerance-heavy, in the form of an ultralight. I've just started, and already have a question; using Raymer's Simplified Aircraft Design book, I calculated my power loading as 16.09 (using the equation 325(55knots)^-.75), with 55 knots being my max speed. Now, I want to use the Big Twin engine from Valley Engineering for my aircraft - but it seems like either I overpower the aircraft to a significant degree, or I put in so much weight that I exceed the UL requirements of 250 lbs empty. I see that the Valley guys already have made UL's with this engine, so what am I missing?
Thanks!
EDIT: Also, when calculating the engine stuff, like multiplying the HP by the power loading, do I use the max continuous HP (32) or the peak HP (40)?
Thanks!
