There's numerous videos on the internet of regular old Cessna 172's and such, with very different engines installed in them. One video in particular shows a 172 with a 400HP Corvette engine installed.
My question is, how is this legal?
I was under the impression that you could NOT take a certificated airplane like a Cessna 150 and "recertify" it an experimental.
What am I missing here?
For those who cannot afford a "real" plane, it would seem pretty tempting to find a Cessna 150 or something with a bad engine, and just do your own thing with it. But then again, this does not seem legal, so how in the heck did that guy get away with putting a Corvette engine in a 172?
