I was having an adult beverage with a fellow pilot the other day and the discussion turned to the documents we are required to carry on board the aircraft. I was taught the mnemonic 'ARROW JIC' (C of A, C of R, Radio license, Owners manual, Weight & Balance, Journey Log, Insurance documents (used to be Interception papers in my day), and Crew license). We dutifully researched the relevant CARs on each item and came up with all the relevant regs, except for weight and balance. We were unable to find any regulation that requires the aircraft weight and balance to be carried on board the aircraft. Can anyone point us in the direction of such a regulation?
