Hello All!

In October 2009 we ordered a new ground adjustable 3-blade propeller from composite materials for a glider towing plane with a engine Lycoming O-360 (180 hp). Old propeller was Sensenich 76EM8-0-62.
In January 2010 we have made measurement of a static thrust and the first flight. It was in Finland, in the airport Malmi in Helsinki.
A first angle of blades installation was 16 degrees. We have measured the static thrust of Sensenich and new propellers. The static thrust of new prop was 297 kg, @2300 rpm. It was on 10 kg more than with Sensenich propeller on @2300 rpm. (QFE 1039 mbar, -4 C).
A first flight. Take-off – the speed was 120 km/h, @2300 rpm. The max plane speed on full gas was 240 km/h (!), @2600 rpm in horizontal flight
The angle of blades is 14 degrees. The static thrust is 334 kg, @2425 rpm. The second flight. Take-off – the speed 120 km/h, @2500 rpm. The max plane speed on full gas was 250 km/h (!), @2700 rpm in horizontal flight. The max take-off speed was 140 km/h with @2500 rpm.
After that we have decided to change the angle of the blade installation from 14 to 13 degrees.
We have made flight tests. With these installations the thrust force in flight of the new propeller has increased by 16 % in comparison with the propeller Sensenich by our calculations. A temperature of the engine heating was lower on 30 degrees than standard.
We are happy with our new propeller. It is very good propeller!
