I have decided to build a sub 115Kg aircraft
I have been looking a Aluminium tube specs
I find that porthole extruded tube is 1/4 price of seamless
Im aware that porthole process seperates & then welds the tube back together.
I am aware that porthole processed tube is not recommended for high internal pressure applications presumably pressure vessels
I note that porthole extruded aluminium is described as "structural uses"
i am aware that I can legally construct a sub 115kg out of this material
can anyone with an engineering background give me a qualified reason why I should not use porthole extruded aluminium in an aircraft structure. I need technical referances to support your opinions please
best regards dave brown
