I know there are many variables to a propeller, such as thickness, twist, and such, and that thrust can vary differently at each speed with different sized propellers powered the same.
Still, on an open ultra-light airplane, whose propeller is not too far from your head, is there an ideal tip speed you shoot for? Mach 0.9? Mach 0.3? Is the diameter and rpm chosen mostly for thrust at speed, or also for noise volume? What factors are the best predictors of volume in the auditory range?
