Well, sort of drifting away from the Afford-A-Plane due to weight concerns, and drifting towards a scratch built Kolb Ultrastar. (Though if I could find the main cage, and build from there, total bonus points).
My reasons are:
I really like the pusher configuration for visibility reasons,
I like the variety of engines that can safely be installed.
I like how far under weight the stock bird comes in. That means I can add amenities like lights, instruments, pods, and electric trim without penalty.
I would like to go with an engine with a electric start. I just have this thing about not being able to hit a starter while strapped into a seat.
My only concern is I am not set up for welding. I am going to have to enlist the help of the FIL for that. (He has a very very nice Miller TIG welder, and plasma cutter setup.)
