I am not building right now, but I am shopping for bits and pieces to equip a planned Sky Pup project.

This Kobra PPG tachometer/hourmeter (manufacturer's site, Aircraft Spruce) looks like a handy little thing for use on an ultralight with a two-stroke engine. The replaceable batteries and the fact that is programmable for multiple ignition types would make up for the increased cost vs. the Tiny Tach (shown for comparison, but not my photo), which must be replaced when the batteries die.

The downside for fixed wing use would be the need to fabricate a bracket for mounting (if you didn't want to go with velcro like the powered powergliders). You could probably do something pretty neat by mounting behind in an an instrument hole cover blank, perhaps with two round holes for the buttons and one square hole for the display.

Thoughts?
