EAA Chapter 40 has a KFM 107ER engine for sale. 2 cylinder 2-stroke. Electric start, belt reduction drive. Appears complete and undamaged. This MAY or MAY NOT be the "Maxi" version (30HP for 5 minutes) or it may be the 27HP version. There are NO logs or records.
The engine has short stub exhaust pipes on the cylinders and a short 2-into-1 Y pipe. The "rest" of the exhaust (tuned pipe section, muffler, etc.) is not there. Most rubber mounts are there, may not be all of them.
The early KFM direct drive engines got a bad rap for torsional vibration failures at the crankshaft/prop flange, KFM SOLVED this problem by adding a belt reduction drive (this version's R designation) which also allowed it to swing a larger prop for much more thrust.
This engine was considered a pretty high tech engine; KFM is a division of IAME, the largest and most successful kart racing engine company with 25 world titles.
Just listed on Barnstormers for $2900, HBA member price $2500. Shipping available. Photos coming soon.
