Edge closeout (glass to glass bond of fiberglass skins) of a foam/fiberglass sandwich is typically used for fasteners and you also get a D-cell structure. I wasn't planning on using any fasteners and was just planning on rounding and filleting the edges and covering with fiberglass tape without utilizing a D-cell. I would guess it is a bit of a trade off in that with edge closeout you loose some of the stiffness around the edges since their is no sandwich core and would need to use more fiberglass for reinforcement but the advantage is the D-cell structure. With edge closeout and fasteners you could also take the structure apart.
