How much commitment is needed for a trike?

I'm new to ultralights. I watched some video on trikes and thought I'd like to get into it. But am concerned with what type of commitment of time is required.

As far as keeping up one's flying skills? How often do you have to fly your trike?

As far as keeping the motor running good? I won't be able to fly it in the winter. How long can it sit before it gets gummed up and dangerous to fly?

Thanks
