The original Eindecker was extremely overweight for the size of the wing. Design gross weight is 450 lbs. The actual gross weight turned out to be 600 lbs. After an accidental stall/spin entry at low altitude I quit flying the plane for over a year. This summer we got with the designer and built a much larger wing. We went to a 7/8 scale wing on the 3/4 scale fuselage. The wing span went from 23 ft. to 28 ft. and the wing area increased from 92 sq. ft to over 130 sq. ft. The stall speed at 600 lbs gross dropped from 43 mph to 35 mph. Climb is much improved also. Cruise speed is still in the 55 mph range due to the drag of all the flying wires and stuff.
