I know this is the wood forum but one of the things I've been thinking about for my design is to use foam and glass bulkheads to form the fuselage shape. The price of cutting up 1 aircraft grade sheet of ply for every bulkhead is up there. (I'm not sure "bulkhead" is the correct term for the pieces that form the shape). The question comes from how well do wood pieces bond to fiberglass as in the many "stringers" that run the length of the fuselage? And I know it's going to take lots of time to glass all the notches the stringers fit into because the foam has to be notched and the glassing has to end up at the final dimension of the wood stringer. Any thoughts on this idea?? You can download a .dxf file of my design idea at the "new member introductions" area.
