extension of elevetors to generate lift other than having wings;

i mainly considered the idea that the wings are mainly needed during take off and landing so during level flight we can be able to retract the wings and extend the elevators up to around the center of the plane(c.o.g) so as to prevent air barrier and faster super sonic speeds
can it be possible?
