Will any of the modern 2 part epoxies bond reliably to aluminum?
I'm thinking about the possibility of changing a design that uses wood spars in the wings and rudder/ tail surfaces.
The design uses foam core epoxied to the wood spar structures, and everything is then glass wrapped externally. I believe the aluminum spars would be good deal lighter overall, but I certainly don't want to sacrifice any reliability or safety.
Anyone ever attempted anything like this? Any input/insight either negative or positive would surely be appreciated. It might well save my bacon. Structural failure would be a bit more "excitement" than I'd care to experience.
