Well, this is my first post since joining HBA. What an awesome group! This is my first build and I just finished my (Modified) Double Eagle wings. I made them 14.5 ft and had to substitute a lot of Fir for spruce, but they weight 65.8 lbs each uncovered, (Hardware, Aileron, wing bow tips...etc). My question is...Are they in the ball park for average weight for this model/size build? Plans call for 14' 1" spar and 54 3/4 chord. Any comparable size weights would be appreciated. I'm just trying to determine if I'm leaning toward the overbuild/overweight side of my thought process. It's hard to break old habits when you have fabricated for the Utility Industry for 25 years. Thanks.
