I do not use a charging system for my little Single Seat Super Cub powered with a 60 HP, 1835 cc, VW engine because of the extra weight. I do have a 12 volt, 5 amp, jell-cell model airplane starting battery to power my handheld radio, oil temp gauge and elevator trim servo. I have been using a voltmeter from NAPA to keep track of the voltage of the battery. I found this volt and amp meter. Now I have a better knowledge of the drain of each item that I am using.
Instead of cutting a rectangle hole in the instrument panel, I mounted the gauge in an old 2 1/4" dia instrument case that was in the junk drawer and made the face plate from .032 aluminum.
This amp gauge will go to 10 amp but they have another volt/amp gauge that will go to 100 amp with a shunt that come with it.

Why the stop watch on a VFR airplane ? I do not use a GPS and time myself between check points to get my ground speed the old fashion way. I enjoy it.
