Anyone have a diagram for this style of bungee wrapping for suspension on a single axle U/C?

I am interested in this style of wrapping for my Flitzer Goblin project because it resists lateral movement of the axle under side loads. In part this is do to the fact that the bungee ends, bound together, are secured to the axle itself (here with zip-ties).
This photo is of a Flitzer under construction in Slovenia in 2008. @flitzerpilot told me that the builder had access to (and flew) an Albatros D.lll 253. @flitzerpilot surmises that this wrapping system was an Austro-Hungarian innovation.

I am sure that with enough fiddling experimentation I could reverse engineer it, but have a sketch would be helpful. It took me years to figure out how to tie a Windsor knot!
