With my renewed interest in designing, I was playing around yesterday with a PRANDTL-D style wing on XFLR5.

The original PRANDTL-D used a reflexed airfoil at the root and continuously morphing into a symmetrical at the tips.

I had been using a MH45 through out, and have the model "trimmed in" to be decently stable in all directions. Then just for curiosity, I tried a symmetrical NACA n0010 for the entire wing.

I didn't tweak it to be "perfect", but I was quite surprised to find that it wasn't that far off.

My point is...With a proper choice of sweep, taper, twist, and anhedral/dihedral, a reflexed airfoil appears to be not necessary. (In fact, I remember reading this somewhere.)
