mentioned this in another thread but seing what thoughts are.
On internally ballanced subaru thoughts on not running a standard crank pulley for the acessory drive (alternator only) ,but instead running a cog tooth pulley on front of crank to drive alternator.

My thoughts is loose weight of the stock pulley, its internally ballanced so its not a ballancer, and plenty of people put aluminum crank pulleys on for less weight and have no ill effects.

To somewhat back up the torsional vibration topic brought up is a lycoming has less main bearings, has mo crank pulley either. But it does have a gear drive acrssory case.

In my application dropping the 4 or so pounds of crank pulley in favor of another 8mm pitch lower crank timing gear is a good amount of weight saved.
