Hello everyone. My name is Roy, and I hope to be able to begin my project within two or three years. For right now I am simply reading and gathering as much information as I can while I build my career.
I suppose I came to aviation in a wierd way. I had come across the MMO Warthunder and sunk many hours into it, learning quite a bit about WWII aviation as a side-effect. This eventually moved on to actual home simulators, which I still enjoy. In that regard the IRL airplanes that catch my attention and fascination the most from that era are the Hurricane and the CAC Boomerang, followed by the Aircobra. Which, upon contemplation, is perhaps a little odd.
As far as homebuilding goes, the current most likely airframe is probably the Pietenpol. There is something about it that grasps my attention and keeps a hold of it. For right now I am working on acquiring the suggested reading list from the Brodhead Pietenpol Association.
From what I have read the Flybaby has a lot of the characteristics that I desire. I'm probably going to read a lot more about it as well.
I have a strong interest in Pazmany's designs, particularly the PL-2 and the PL-9 Storch representation. I am afraid of potential runaway costs, and have no idea how to work metal.
The Volmer looks like it would be a fun build.
As far as powerplants go I am interested in the Corvair and will likely get WW's manuals, even if it's just to have them and learn. (I understand there are personality conflicts on the Corvair side of the house, but personality conflicts are a part of life.) I also find the Valley Engineering 'Big Twin' engine to be pretty neat, even if it's not useful for my application at this time.
That's pretty much all there is on my end, for now at least.
