I posted this on another forum, but this one seems to have more knowledgeable people on it. None of my plans, DVD or construction manual cover the grain orientation on my metal plane project, but I was told it was important to get the proper strength on the parts. When one bends the metal, should it be at right angles to the grain, even though this causes the most resistance, or should it be parallel? Which way should the grain be for laying on fuselage skins, wings? And for bulkheads, ribs, other parts? How important is this? I’d appreciate some feedback on this before I start bending expensive metal. Any help at all would be appreciated.
