I am considering buying a previously completed Comp Air AC-6 with a Lycoming IO-540 engine and it has already received an Airworthness Certificate from the FAA. The aircraft currently has 175 hours on it. I understand that if I build a kit aircraft, I can be the mechanic with IA. What about completed non-certified aircraft like the one mentioned above? Can I do the repairs? Would a A&P mechanic be willing to work on it? Anyone have any input or resources they can recommend that would shed some light on the subject?
