Hello. I live in central Kentucky.

I only have basic skills, but learn quickly. I have been building model airplanes from balsawood for 30 years.
As much fun as RC planes are, you are still standing on the ground looking up.

I got close to earning my PPL, (65 Hours), but ran out of money and patience.
With the rising cost of flying, and added regulations, I decided to take up powered paragliding.

With retirement only 10 years away, I have decided to build my own airplane.
(something to do when the weather won't let me fly)

I would like to build from wood, and stay within FAR 103 specs.
I considered the SkyPup, (even purchased the plans), but it seems pilot visibility would be very limited.
I really like open cockpits.

Now I am looking at the MiniMax 1100R
How realistic is it to think the MiniMax can be built under 254 pounds?

Can anyone suggest a true ultralight that a beginner can build?

Thanks
