Global engine whas GMT global machine tool corporation 4 stroke 2 hor opposed 92 mm/78mm 1039cc 9.1 comp ratio prop rotationcw magneto 35 hp 76 lbs 1.5 to1.8 gph whas built Hendersonville NC 28739 USA ,i have one it is very good engin, a good use at $2500 and 2700$ prop on,not in production but no probleme for parts it is vw ,Michel

KR2 is spot on. I was in Hendersonville in the mid-1980's and looked very longingly at the J3 Kitten, which was originally designed with the Global.

But the Global was dropped in favor of the Rotax 277. The 277 has more power but a higher fuel burn per hour. There were "teething problems" with the Global; I recall that it had to do with crank case pressure when the pistons came together blowing out the oil.


And less than $3K for firewall forward is not that bad either.
