When I first heard about experimental aircraft I assumed it was part of the process of creating a certified aircraft.
It seems like something like creating a prototype and then flying it for 10,000 hours without a problem would be enough demonstrated ability to allow a plane to be certified.
I know it doesn’t work like this but what if it did ?
Perhaps a rule that allows restricted certification where a plane could be operated as certified for a 10th of the amount of time that the lowest time of 10 prototypes had operated or as much as the lowest time of 100 .
Just think how that would change both the small plane industry and the pilot training system.
