Anyone have a copy of Bill Spring's Hummelbird Construction Video? Thanks

    Turbocharging

Are there any updates here? Any thoughts about the 2.1 Turbo Aerovee?

What gets the most Bang for a Buck?

On the VW's, do you know what the 9 failures were? Has the design of the aero conversion ever been modified to address these failures? Maybe more time is needed to work out all the bugs. I wonder how many of those flying were done by a guy in a shop reading the how to book with limited...

What gets the most Bang for a Buck?

Appears I didn't type that right. 2gal/hr @105MPH is what I meant. I've heard a lot about the 1/2 VW's. Everything from they are great motors and nearly trouble free to not much better that scrap iron. I've also heard there is a certain rpm range to stay away from with them. Depends on who...

What gets the most Bang for a Buck?

I'm thinking about single and 2 place efficient airplanes and I'm wondering what gets the most performance dollar wise. I can't think of anything that beats the Hummelbird, am I forgetting something? 10 grand to build and 2 gal/hr @ 105mpg is pretty hard to beat. For a 2 place would this...

    Any Thatcher CX4 Builders Here?

Are you building one? I just looked up the specs of it and it reminds me of a big version of the Hummelbird or a BK-1. I've never seen one in person but the pictures make it look like a neat plane.

    Flying Over Water

Typical Homebuilt, could be anything. Vans, Sonex, Zenith, Kitfox, whatever. I would think most homebuilt fly under 20,000ft and are single engine.

    Flying Over Water

How do you guys feel about taking shortcuts by flying over water? For example, Pensacola FL to Tampa is around 400mi but if you fly over the Gulf of Mexico it's 335mi. Taking this shortcut there are places where you'll be 40 miles from land.

    2 seater Cri-Cri, HummelBird or SD-1

Has anybody seen a SD-1? I haven't heard anything about how well they fly or how difficult to build they are. Is the USA dealer CAGE Global Solutions LLC still in business? I'd also like to know how many have been built/are flying.

Getting more speed from a Pietenpol

I'm aware that an LSA is limited to 138 mph. I'm also aware of the forums about fastest LSA with slower props to slow down. Thats kind of what I was thinking. I can compromise some, 12mph isn't much. Thanks for the KR-2 I'd never heard of it before. Anyone have other recommendations for a...

Getting more speed from a Pietenpol

Can it be done safely? I'm after a fast, dirt cheap LSA. I'd prefer a wood model. I'd really like to see plans for a plan that cruises around 150mph for at least 3 hours. If not a Pietenpol are there any other 2 seaters that are cheap, safe and fast?
